THE APPROACH

Developed by the artist.
Designed for the space.
Penshaw Hill develops authored environments in which architecture, surface, light, and atmosphere are resolved as a cohesive whole. Since 1996, the practice has explored how those elements can shape the experience of place.
Every project begins with the experience the space is intended to create. That objective establishes the direction, allowing visual language, material, composition, and scale to develop in response to architecture.
Each project is approached as a complete environment.
The resulting work may take the form of a mural environment, architectural wallcovering, or site-specific installation, depending on what best serves the space.
Rooted in traditional techniques, the work is developed with the refinement and control required to translate seamlessly at architectural scale.
The series presented through Penshaw Hill represent decades of site-specific development and artistic practice. They may be commissioned as presented, adapted to a specific setting, or serve as the foundation for entirely bespoke work.
Composed. Refined.
Resolved as a cohesive whole.
